About Tubaphonium Day

On March 27th, 2022 IUP will host the fifth IUP Tubaphonium Day. The guest artist this year will be Los Angeles-based tubist and IUP alumnus, Jim Self. Tubaphonium Day is a chance for tuba, euphonium, and baritone players of all ages to join the IUP Tuba and Euphonium Studio for a day of performance and learning. Participants will hear from master teachers, perform as part of a mass tuba-euphonium ensemble, and hear performances from the featured artists and IUP music students.  Contact Zach Collins at zcollins@iup.edu for more information.

Rehearsals, Master Classes, Guest Artist Recital

Gala Concert featuring the Tubaphonium Day Mass Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, IUP Tubaphonium Ensemble, and guest artist.

All events take place in Cogswell Hall

Jim Self

Picture
Jim Self is a Los Angeles-based freelance musician. Since 1974 he has worked for all the major Hollywood studios performing for over 1500 motion pictures and hundreds of television shows and records. His solos in major films include John William’s scores to Jurassic Park, Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Hook, and he was the “Voice of the Mothership” from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
