Dr. Zach Collins will perform a solo recital and concerto at the 2010 U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Ft. Myer, VA. He will perform a recital on Thursday, January 29, that will feature two works by senior Theory and Composition student, Anthony O'Toole. On Friday, January 30 he will perform Robert Jager's Concerto for Bass Tuba with the U.S. Army Orchestra. Both events can be streamed live at: http://www.usarmyband.com/tuba/2010_tuba-euphonium_conference_schedule.html Zach Collins premiered a new work by IUP faculty member, Dr. David Martynuik, entitled Variations on a Theme by Billy Joel in a recital on November 19, 2009 in Gorell Recital Hall. The piece was written for Dr. Collins and the IUP percussion ensemble. Variations features 13 virtuosic variations in such diverse styles as habanera, gamelan, and Bartok. Join us for two great concerts this weekend. First, we are hosting Dr. George Palton from Marshall University on Friday, April 17 at 8 PM in Cogswell 121. On Sunday, April 19, the Tubaphonium Ensemble will be performing an evening of chamber music at Commonplace Coffeehouse. The concert starts at 7 PM. Come and enjoy some good music and coffee. Dr. Zach Collins will perform as a guest artist at Ohio University in Athens, OH and Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Dr. Collins' performance at Ohio University will be at 6 PM on Saturday, February 28. His performance at Marshall University will be at 12 PM on Sunday, March 1in Smith Music Hall. The program will include Soliloquy X by Christopher Wiggins, Concerto for Tuba by Eric Ewazen. Selections from Suite No. 6 for Solo Cello by J.S. The IUP Tubaphonium Sextet performed prior to the PSO concert on Friday, February 20th. The ensemble performed several student compositions and arrangements. Pictures can be viewed here. The IUP Tubaphonium Sextet will perform in the lobby prior to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra concert on Friday, February 20, 2009. The group will perform several contemporary and light classical selections composed and arranged by IUP students. The IUP Tubaphonium Ensemble performed at the 2009 US Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Ft. Myer, VA on Friday, January 30. The ensemble performed a program of "all-IUP" music--music composed or arranged entirely by IUP students and faculty. In addition, the ensemble performed at Everett Middle School on Thursday, January 29. |
